The other day I was chatting with my friend about the authentic ramen places in Singapore and we discussed how each brand differs from the other. But when we talk about the creativeness of the chefs, Santouka is the one we both agreed on to be the boldest.
I am once again invited as an ambassador back to Santouka for 3 new menu items coming up (Well, I had at least visited them 7 times within 2017 for their ramen) ! Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a Japanese ramen restaurant renowned for its Hokkaido-style ramen and pork cheek. As of now, they have 53 outlets in 9 countries! There is no need to worry about quality of standard. The recipe is being made consistent throughout all the outlets in all over the world so as to ensure that clients can get the same quality regardless where they are!
Spicy Shio Ramen
Unlike your typical Spicy Ramen that you find in Singapore, this is actually not spicy when you first taste it. But the spiciness comes after that. Not very spicy to be honest but you have this tingling spicy aftertaste and reminds me more of the Chinese style. You will also find parsley and fried shallots in your bowl of Spicy Shio Ramen which adds on a punch to the soup.
I really love the soup and didn't realised that Ive drank it all up even before I finish my ramen muahahaha! Give this a try and let me know what you feel about this! Hint* do add more chilli oil to perk up the spiciness if you enjoy it spicy~~
Kaisen Hiyashi Maze-soba
I would call this a fusion of Western salad style with Japanese authentic soba and ideas from Korean inspired side dishes. As you can see from the pictures below, Kaisen Hiyashi Maze-soba comes served on a big plate. Unlike your typical Ramen which is served hot or cold soba which comes with a dipping sauce or in sesame sauce, this is served cold and the base Miso sauce is one of the key factor to the unique experience for this dish. Topped with fresh seafood and sashimi, and the greens and sweetness of the cherry tomato, it makes this dish somewhat looks like a healthy salad!
You get to choose 01 meat side dish and 02 vegetable or cheese side dishes to add on to your meal. You can just eat it like Korean side dishes, picking some up to go with your cold ramen or you can also just pour everything in and mix them well. Your choice and preference on how to eat this! Its fun and filling as I feel its good for 2 females to share and order some other appetisers to go.
I personally would choose the black fungus (my fav!), bamboo shoots and unary to go with my Kaisen Hiyashi Maze-soba. Im not sure if I can pay bit more to add in one more dish of cheese :P
Love this creation and I leave it to you to choose your favourite side dishes and eat it the way you would want it to be :D
Dessert! Warning! Must have for all female or dessert lovers! I love this but do take note of the timing to serve this. (Takes quite awhile for the kitchen to make this so do order in advance and let them know before you're finishing your meal)
The most Instagrammable item on the menu for ladies and its a way to end off your meal, happy! and I'm sure anyone who had this for dessert after their meal will be the happiest person walking out of the restaurant. Fresh strawberries, yummy ice cream as well as crunchy cereal in it. Try this!!
All 03 dishes will be launched real soon so prepare your stomach for a gastronomical feast!
More details of the launch can be located HERE
