What to do when you’re hungry, especially in the middle of the night or just after a late night movie? I’m sure you will not have any difficulties here in Singapore especially at the northern eastern part of it. There are tons of yummy foods as well for supper crawlers.
I am fortunate to be able to enjoy such great foods around my area and I am glad that they are still around after so many years. Many can’t survived due the to the handing over to the next generation as they try to re-create and modernised their food and their culture.
Right here along Serangoon Road, this is one place that even people from the west of Singapore would know about and needs no introduction. SO if you have yet to try this, please do come down and brings more money ya!
Nasi Lemak (a Malay dish, coconut and pandan fragrant rice served with a hot spicy sauce (sambal), and usually include various garnishes, including fresh cucumber slices, small fried anchovies (ikan bilis), roasted peanuts, and hard-boiled or fried egg. Punggol Nasi Lemak serves yet a slightly different way (I would say its more towards the chinese style) where they offer a wide variety of dishes for you to mix and match with the yummy rice.
Almost every evening and night, you will see queues forming up in an orderly manner people ordering packing the orders for their families or collecting huge trays of food as they enjoy the delicious food at the coffeeshop. Some of the side dishes available are chicken wings, vegetable curry, fried long beans, fried sotong balls and otak. I must say the chicken wings or drumsticks is a must have when you’re here. I love their homemade sambal chilli and the fresh crunchy cucumbers as I always ask for more (ya sometimes they would grumble that I take too much of it :P)
So move your butt and come down to this yummy place and I guarantee you that you will love the food here! Just to share that if you’re a big eater (even for supper), please ask for additional of rice and the portions of the foods served might not be a lot. The other thing to note is that the prices of the food is kind of expensive comparing to the amount given. Other than that, I do love to come here once in awhile to have my yummy drumsticks! Nomnomnom~~
